Get the Facts: UCLA students paid an estimated $177,000 in fines in 2006-07 to copyright holders after being threatened with lawsuits by the recording, motion picture / TV, and software gaming industry associations. These associations have become extremely skilled at discovering infringement, and have become emboldened by recent court rulings that support their right to sue individuals over copying as little as a single audio track. By federal law, UCLA is obligated to comply with legally presented subpoenas that request the identity of those on our campus that are subjects of lawsuits, and the University is powerless to assist students in a court of law. Play it safe. Don't break the law. Be aware of the law by reading the information contained in the links below, and get your entertainment legally, whether through us or other legitimate means.
